Assessment

Clarity & Understanding

An assessment can help children, adolescents, and adults better understand their strengths, challenges, and needs. The goal is to give you clear insights and practical recommendations that can make everyday life easier at home, school, or work.

What Assessments Can Help With

I provide comprehensive assessments, including diagnostic reports where required, to investigate:

  • Attention and concentration concerns (e.g. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder/ ADHD).
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
  • Learning and academic differences and difficulties (e.g. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia).
  • Emotional or behavioural challenges
  • Cognitive strengths and weaknesses
  • School or workplace accommodations

Who Are Assessments Suitable For?

Assessments are suitable for children (6 years and older), adolescents, and adults who are seeking diagnostic clarification, a deeper understanding of strengths and challenges, or guidance around supports and strategies.

Each assessment is thorough, age-appropriate, and focused on providing clear, practical recommendations that make a real difference at home, school, or work.

What to Expect

While every assessment is tailored to the individual, the process usually involves:

  1. Initial interview: Meeting with child and/ or parents, or the adult client to gather history and concerns.
  2. Direct Assessment Testing: These are usually booked in 2 hour blocks.
  3. Questionnaires: From parents, teachers, or other supports where relevant, as well as self-reported questionnaires.
  4. Comprehensive report: This will outline results, strengths, challenges, and include targeted and personalised recommendations.
  5. Feedback session: Going through the findings together with time for questions.

Why Choose an Assessment?

An assessment can help by:

  • Providing clarity after months (or years) of uncertainty;
  • Helping teachers, schools, or workplaces understand and support needs;
  • Guiding tailored strategies for learning and wellbeing;
  • Highlighting strengths as well as areas of difficulty; and
  • Unlocking access to supports, accommodations, or funding.

Costs

The cost of an assessment depends on the type of assessment and the number of sessions involved. As a general guide, an assessment usually takes around 8-12 hours of work and is charged at the hourly rate of $225 per hour (Total = $1800-$2700).

Specifically:

  • ADHD and Autism assessments usually involve multiple sessions, questionnaires, and a detailed report.
  • Learning assessments to investigate possible Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia may require several hours of testing plus reporting.
  • Combined assessments can take longer and involve additional sessions.

After your initial session, you will be provided with an individualised clear quote of fees and inclusions for your specific needs before starting, so there are no surprises.

Please note: Medicare rebates are not available for assessments. Private health insurance may cover part of the cost depending on your provider.

Next Steps

If you’re considering an assessment for yourself or your child, the first step is to book an initial appointment. From there, we’ll decide together on the most suitable assessment pathway.
